Change in beliefs

It looks like the education I had been having has been influencing my beliefs and even the music I like to listen to.  It looks like when I am in a more conservative education, I tend to want to listen to the more conservative music - think country and Christian, or someone like Taylor Swift or Miley Cyrus.  I notice that in high school, there are kids that listen to country and actually enjoyed country, instead of this "I don't want to admit I am listening to this" attitude.

Why am I am listening to hip-hop and R&B, which is made by primarily by black people or African Americans.  It is probably my education.

I have nothing against African American music - they had created great music throughout the years and their music has excellent harmonies.  If you like the soulful feeling or more of the laid back, cool feeling, black music is not bad.  A lot of kids and teens like hip-hop/R&B and there are even white people that listen to this, but it looks like that even a white person like me are starting to appreciate hip-hop/R&B than the music made by other "white people".  Of course, you have some white musicians that can pull off this hip-hop and R&B music such as Eminen and Mariah Carey, even Miley Cyrus was trying to get urban.  But it looks like I am wrinking up my noses to what I am.  I probably see something that is not cool about living in a more rural area in Minnesota.

I am not  exacly urban, but I am sort of rural, which is basically I have a hayfield in the front yard.  My parents go along with the rural lifestyle such as riding four wheeler and hauling wood, but we don't neccessary live in a farm.  I haven't really experience farm living (maybe a little bit when I am younger) but it looks like I wanted to be exposed to something different.  My parents are interested in cars, which are pretty urban and pretty rural, so that explains a lot.

I am in a merge of the city and the country, but I haven't really experience the true city.  I am probably sick and tired of the small town lifestyle; it does get pretty boring.

The school system and the media was pretty lose - it is okay to listen to whatever you want, but it looks like I am sort of a phony. I don't do drugs, sex, or any of this stuff in rap music, and I am not involved with gangs.  And I am not sort of involved with any of the "redneck stuff" so there must be something that I might be involved with.  It seems like I am too moral for rock music, and these guys are too rebellious.  There might be something that fit me - maybe older music that was based more on everyday, clean cut things such as relationships - probably Christian music.  Country music is not all based on tractors and stuff, it could be based on things such as relationships.    It looks like I am in a idenity crisis, but it looks like I am getting things figured out.  Pop music does fit me.

Look at me.  I am white, so this boils down to music that is enjoy by white people.  I probably have the self concept that since I had to get some help with reading and math in school, or if I had ADHD, I am probably dumb.  But I am not dumb - I am a lot more intelligent and I know what I am talking about.  I probably say pop is the best genre of music - probably a more older, more conservative style of pop music, such as adult contemporary.  There are a lot of choices these days and there is a lot of exploration.  Maybe I should do some appreciation.
