Online classes: pros and cons

I am taking some classes using the internet, actually I am only taking one class and I can see some pros and cons with online classes.

Pros

Go to school anytime you want.  You don't have to be late for class because class is always in session.  You can take your classes anytime you want, day or night, as long  as you have decent internet access and access to a computer, or something equivalent to a computer.

Learn at your own pace.  You have deadlines to get things done, but you don't have to go with the pace with everyone in the classroom.  You can learn at the pace that you feel the most comfortable with.

No more cliques, drama, dress code, crappy school lunches.  All the dilemmas of high school and college has diminished, or even completely eliminated from your life.  You  don't have to worry about following the dress code; you can even go to class naked.  You don't have to worry about fitting in with the popular group, etc. when you are just alone at home with your computer.

Less distractions

The classroom is a place where there is a lot of distractions.  You will be tempted to text in class or even talk to your neighbor.  You may get bored by lectures that you don't understand, or the teacher has their favorites.  With online education, you can sit in solitude with minimal distraction, text message your buddies, eat, even sit on your bed, and still be going to school.

Cons

More responsibility.  With a traditional classroom, things are more "spoonfed" to you.  With online class, you have a lot more responsibility to get things done.  You may have to read things, research things, and do other things that are normally done in the classroom.  That means twice the homework.

Social isolation.  Online classes could get rather lonely, and sometimes being in a class with a lot of people make it easier to meet new people and is a lot more fun.  It is all right if you are working, or being with people all the time, but when you are not with people, this could be pretty boring.

Harder to get help.  With a traditional classroom, you can ask questions and get help from a teacher.  Online classes you can get help from e-mail, but sometimes your e-mail doesn't work.

Online classes I can see are going to take off at very high rates throughout this decade, and this may be a standard way of learning in the 2020s and 2030s.  The traditional class I can see is going to become "uncool" because most kids don't want to be confined to a classroom.  You can still have your sports and whatnot, but that could be run by community members and not educators.  This may help improve the economy because teenage and young adult labor is actually at a lower level because kids are simply in school, and not working.  Teenagers can work full time at entry level jobs and can get a kick start on their careers.  They can also work ahead on their college education online, which enable them to progress in the workplace at even a faster rate.

I am trying an anthropology course online and it is working greatly with me.
