I am looking for what field I should consider going into and it looks like it's pretty obvious. I have been looking at the BLS and there are some pretty obvious and dead give away statistics of why the economy is going down the toilet: There is an over-saturation in a few fields, and everyone else is not going into the other fields that are needed to complete a successful society.
The highest amount of people going into jobs are in the health care field. Of course, we have this health care reform which is a joke and there will be many new medical advancements, while will create many new jobs. But there are way too many people going into this profession and they are under foot, and may need to even cut employment in the future. We are assuming that the Baby Boomers are going to get old, which they are already and they need all the health care and medical benefits they can get. I don't think so. Many Baby Boomers are actually dying at a quick rate so it is not going to be as much old people as you think. The main demographic for health care is actually needed for young people doing idiotic stuff (think Jackass) and hurting themselves, along with the STD's, obesity, anorexia, and all that good stuff, along with deliviring babies through C sections. Mental health is probably the highest section that is needed in health care - there are a bunch of psycological wackos walking around.
Professional, scientific, and technical services are also projected to have a lot of people in it too. We have this belief that in the future we have to work on making emerging technologies, most likely video games and cell phones, which are major addictions to children and teenagers these days. We don't really make any convenient new technologies, as they did back in the 1950s. A washing machine and TV dinners were good ideas; now we have more people making more electronic toys where they can check Facebook on. We also have too many scientists and they are mad scientists, trying to create genetic material so we can make computers come alive. We are creating monsters! Yikes! This iRobot movie might not be that far from reality.
Educational services also have an over saturation in this modern day of age. There are too many teachers, and not too many intelligent teachers, and we have too many teachers aides, paraprofessionals, college professors, coaches, and child care/head start people. They are annoying children than helping children and they don't get payed too much because of the over saturation of such careers.
On the other hand, there are careers that are in need for people to do work in to make an successful and balanced society. There are a need for people to work in the retail business, such as stores, especially grocery stores. Everyone is basing everything on the internet but the internet is not going to be a replacement of stores. The internet is designed for the at home business and specialty shops, but we need more department stores and grocery stores where you can buy cat food and a toothbrush. People are even ordering food and other necessities on the web, but you can't buy everything on the web. You might need to pick up something quick for supper.
Transportation and warehousing is needed too for the increase of eBiz and eBay. We also need people to sell insurance and help people manage their money, even though this stuff is BORING for a lot of people. Health insurance especially and fire insurance, since we had been having a lot of natural disasters and health care reform mandates health insurance just like car insurance.
Jobs that are very slow these days are for the ones trying to rent out houses and apartments. The housing market had collapsed and the business market in the private sector is starting to collapse, causing a bunch of vacant homes. The deadest of all the jobs are the management and that is the source of the collapsing economy. We don't have enough bosses and managers to tell people what to do and to even hire people. When we don't have enough managers, you can't find anyone who is hiring, which means you need to scrape to find work. But what we do have for managers are idiots - they hire the biggest idiots and they pay them nothing, so nobody gets nothing and we vote for presidents that destroy the economy, not gain it, by radical policies such as health care, because the president is gangsta' yo.
So basically what we need is more people running stuff, and that will guaranteed more jobs in retail, finance, and all this good stuff. So a degree in Management or Organizational Behavior is what is needed right now.
