Lifestyle changes

I am noticing a change in the lifestyle in which people are living in the last few years. Now the economy has started to bust loose again, but this time we had learned our lesson from the Great Recession and we are starting to revamp the way that we were living.

Before the Great Recession, people were very materialistic.  Everything was about the house, the car, the bling, etc.  This has been going since the late 1980s and it was a continuous economic boom in the 1990s and the 2000s.  But about 2008, that ended and it was a major shift in the lifestyle.

One thing that started about 2009 or so was the rise of social media and the social world - people are starting to use smartphones and tablets more often, and the internet was gradually starting to get more mobile and wireless.  Computers were confined to work in the 1990s, while in the 2000s they were common in the home, and by the 2010s - computer like things are everywhere, which means you don't have to be attached to a computer.  People are still using desktops and laptops - servers still exist but it looks like we are going to a less wired internet  and computing structure into a wireless computing structure that is going to be everywhere.  Social media is changing a way we live - we are keeping track of people and celebrities all the time, and it is changing the way we do business - feedback from social media is really important right now.

The 1950s was a time when a lifestyle change happened before.  After world war II, everything was starting to center around the home and around the TV set.  Sunday afternoons and evenings were spent watching TV shows.  This TV lifestyle has been going on until the beginning of the 21st century - you worked out and you went home to just chill and relax.

But about the 2000s, people started to flock to the web for entertainment and the entertainment got pretty boring.  Now we have Wi-Fi access everywhere with Netflix so you don't have to watch TV in the living room anymore; you can watch movies and TV anywhere with Wi-Fi, so we are not going to have a TV centered lifestyle.  Now it looks like you go up town and have fun, and it is cool to "check in" where you are going.  This "check in" lifestyle is probably changing the way you live - people are starting to\ work and go to school outside of their homes and they are chillin' uptown; it looks like there is a flip-flip in the way you live.  You are not going to be centered around the home for relaxation; now you are going to connect with other people for fun - your immediate family, relatives, and co-workers are not that important, and now it just random people in the community.  Community events and community hang outs are going to be common - a lot of people are going to be hanging out in the local gyms, swimming pools,  football fields, etc. You can get access to the Web anywhere with a data plan or Wi-Fi that you don't really need to be this lonely computer geek.  I see lots of things such as spaghetti supper fundraiser type things where people can eat together and meet new people.  Community is going to be a lot more important than just your job - networking is going to be a must right now and we are starting to see a comeback of friendship.

I think I am going to like the new lifestyle - I am not confined to the computer in my room chatting with weird people across the world or writing this blog - now the internet is being used everywhere and that is changing the way we live.
