This is my idea of what people like throughout the spectrum. The media right now tends to be very liberal because of Generation Y taking it over, but I think I can see a shift towards a more conservative end of the spectrum in the next few years.
TV Shows
Liberal: Tend to watch most of the garbage on the TV. They like anything trash with a lot of swearing, sexual innuendo, and anything that is "diverse" - in other words, "weird." I don't watch too much of the liberal stuff, but it is probably TV that normal people don't like. Think PBS, Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, E! Entertainment, Operah, weird documentaries about plastic surgery, tattooing, etc.
Conservative : They don't have time for the TV, but when they do watch TV it is probably something like Fox News, football, and Walker Texas Ranger. About it! They may turn on the CMT channel once in a while or watch something like Gunsmoke or Little House on the Praire, or game shows. For the young ones, Disney Channel and Looney Tunes are the only good things on TV.
Music
Liberals probably listen to a lot of music like folk music, classical, jazz, R&B, hip-hop, and most of all, rock, because it is stickin' to the man. Not southern rock or any redneck stuff, but this pissy emo music. They probably love alternative, grunge, indie,etc. any of that weird, thinking man hipster music. Probably something off of public radio. Probably stuff you get high too.
Conservatives stick to country, and maybe some southern rock, along with boy bands/teen idols. Christian music and anything that doesn't involve swearing and is religious fundamentalist and patriotic. Pop music is probably loved by conservatives.
Movies
Liberals probably like wussy foreign films, independent films, smutty frat movies, documentaries, horror flicks, Harry Potter, really bad comedies, etc.
Conservatives probably love a good butt kicker like Clint Eastwood or Chuck Norris, maybe a James Bond flick, Adam Sandler, and Disney movies. They probably think the Lion King is too hippy.
