Quirky is cool I guess

It looks like there is a new emerging standard of "cool" and it is starting to become the "quirky".  I don't seem to care about this "quirkiness" - I was used to a predefined set of "cool." To be cool, you'll have to have the latest clothes, the latest gadgets and you'll have to have a hot girlfriend/boyfriend along with a hot car.  It looks like the "cool" was focused on the rich and the elite and every started to conform to "the rich" and "the elite."

But now, it looks like there is a new standard of coolness.  It is not the "traditional coolness" it is a new standard of cool - something that used to be considered quirky or dorky or so not cool back then.

Back then, being cool took away your individuality but now it seems like individuality is coming back - the more individual, the more distinctive, the better which makes you more of the elite.  It looks like that the "cool" is not dictated by the elite anymore - the individual brings up something and people go along with it, thinking it is cool.

Justin Beiber was the classic cool - he is your pretty boy plastic pop singer.  He is bashed the crap out of because there is probably a new standard of cool out there. And he has a bad voice but he has improved when he finally got some testosterone and went through puberty.

But now it looks like there is a new form of "cool" and I don't seem to get it.  The Lumineers are basically not cool in my standards - they are a bunch of dorks.  They sing music that is so out of touch that is "cool".  But a lot of people like them because they are "dorks" - they are quirky and they are expressing themselves throughout their music - they are playing what they like without worrying about what other people will think of them.  I am still in this "worrying about what other people think of me" stage.

Eventually, one day I am going to figure out what is cool and not cool.  Maybe something that is a little too "cliché" or "conformist" is not cool - a lot of people are getting sick of this.

The TV is an example of everything that is "shoved" at you - Kim Kardashian according to the "elite" is cool but actually she is boring - she is another Paris Hilton rip off.  A lot of people are realizing what is truly going on with these people - Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian are rich stuck up sluts. I really don't care for the garbage being shoved at you - there are other things that are probably way more entertaining and "cooler" than this stuff that is on the TV

I am new to this era of independence and it looks like there are some pretty good stuff - but I still have the worry about what everyone thinks.  We need to cool things up or maybe I don't know what is truly cool anymore.
