High School Musical is a staple movie for Generation Z, born from 1991 to the present, and that may represent how they view the world. This generation has grown up in a time when high school was not a perfect place, it was far from it. There was school shootings, gang activity, cliques, competition, and the like. High School Musical is a vision, a wish, that these young children have of high school - this peaceful Disney utopia where everyone is nice to each other and treats each other equally. We all want this but in the real world, this won't happen.
This generation grown up with Disney, most likely to escape and their belief is "What if high school was like a Disney movie." This movie gives high school in a more peaceful, cheery environment of Disney that they would of wish to encounter in real life. Disney does a great job in creating an utopia - a world where the sun is shining and the birds are singing, and everyone is happy. Teenagers are peacefully just enjoying the small things in life such as watching the clouds go by or taking a relaxing dip in the pool without the worry of other obstacles in life such as cliques, drama, and impending college education. In the real world, high school is not like this, but if we work on it, it could be close to this.
I think this movie has impacted a generation. Teenagers seem to be very nice, and very mature, and they seem to be happy with who they are. They wear nice approachable clothing with bright colors. No more edgy clothing, teenagers are seen wearing dresses and skirts which is very beautiful. These sections in these Disney movies where the teenagers are laughing and looking at the small things in life are very inspirational to a generation, something that they wish they would of fulfilled.
