I have been looking at the latest billboard charts, and it looks like it seems like there is nothing new or original. I think it might be the recession doing a factor because people do not have enough money to make any new music to market it, or it might be the high taxation on the rich, so certain artists won't be popular. It looks like music hasn't been that good for at least the last 10 or 20 years. With the advent of computers and other technology, people don't even take the time to make a quality song. When was the last time you heard a traditional love ballad? About 2000.
The billboard chart has turned out to be the "establishment" and it has always been the "establishment", but I think it has gone worse. I don't see any emerging trends in music; it is the same old people doing the same old stuff, but they are trying to relate. You have a lot of R&B artists such as Chris Brown turning into dance artist just to go with the trends. I can see dance music is going to be popular for a long time in the future, but I don't see anything new or original.
I have a feeling that when the economy is going to rise again, we will be seeing a more truer sound in music.
